Academic Support Center
The Academic Support Center is available to a small number of Oakwood students who may have mild, diagnosed learning differences. It is guided by the belief that every student, given the appropriate instruction and support, can perform at a level commensurate with his or her potential.
Through careful analysis of each student's learning style and specific areas of strength and need, our learning specialists create a program of appropriate pedagogy and support. Emphasis on skill development and compensatory strategies in the areas of literacy, mathematics, study skills, and self-advocacy enables students to achieve greater success in Oakwood's college-preparatory curriculum and provides a foundation for lifetime learning. Three programs are available through the ASC: Learning Skills, Focused Instruction, and Critical Thinking.
