Quaker Worship on Campus

Each morning the Oakwood community begins our day together in the Meeting Room. Some of us are physically present, others connected via Zoom from the theater, the classrooms, and offices around campus. Moments of silence, affirmations, and announcements ranging from the silly to the deeply personal are grounded in a space of reflection, respect,  and community.  I can think of no better place to start my day.

And now I can think of no better place to welcome the Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting onto our Oakwood campus!

For over 300 years Quakers have been present in the Hudson Valley. and for the last 100 years Oakwood Friends School and Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting communities have operated in close physical proximity.   There are multi-generational connections between Oakwood and the Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting and we each possess a deep commitment to supporting, leading and preparing our communities in lives of conscience, compassion, action, and consequence.

This year Poughkeepsie Friends Meeting is transitioning from their Meeting House in the town of Poughkeepsie and has begun weekly worship on the Oakwood campus. We look forward to strengthening current relationships and developing new friendships in the months ahead.

All are welcome to join on Sundays at 10:00 AM.
