Prior to becoming a certified social studies teacher (7-12 NYS professional certification), Karen taught within the SUNY system (Geneseo and New Paltz). She taught for over a decade in the high school at Poughkeepsie Day School, where she also served as a high school administrator for five years. Karen likes to cook/bake, putter in her flower and herb garden, and take on lots of "house projects". The Dutchess County 4H Alpaca/Llama club has a central role in her family's life and they are regulars at the Dutchess County Fair, Sheep and Wool festival etc. Karen serves on the board of the World Affairs Council of the Mid-Hudson Valley and co-coordinates the annual "Academic WorldQuest" competition for area high schools. (Oakwood participates!)
