St. Bonaventure University
"The thing that I liked best about Oakwood was the student teacher relationship. You can go to your teachers anytime for help and they will be there for you. I wasn't confident in my studies at all in middle school but Oakwood taught me to become more confident in my studies and not to be shy of asking teachers for help. Also they could be your math teacher in the morning and in the afternoon they could be your coach for soccer. They would always be around you because they want you to be confident of asking them anything.
I would encourage students to come here because you will have a great experience here and meet a lot of people from around the world. You could have your roommate from China then your classmate that sits right next to you could be from California. You would learn people's background and getting to know different perspectives and cultures coming here.
The thing that stands out about Oakwood is the diversity. I never thought I could know a lot of people from around the world with different backgrounds. It gives you a perspective of different views. Also it shows how Oakwood is a great community that has equality for all students to express their views however they want.
It was an honor to be a part of this community. I don't think I would be able to find a community as open minded and thoughtful as this one is. Going on trips such as bowling, ice skating, amusement parks, going to Buddhist monasteries and hiking, really made the weekends fun as a boarder. Hiking in the east coast was an eye opening experience.
Coming to Oakwood will make you be more mindful of things than before. You'll not only grow as a young educated person from Oakwood, but you will grow as a person through life experiences and become an independent person. Oakwood is a place for people who are willing to take risks and try new things, open up as a person and to grow with others."
