Letter from Director:
Welcome to Oakwood Friends School and the beautiful Hudson Valley!
At Oakwood Friends, our mission begins with a commitment to diversity, social justice, and our surrounding community. We encourage our students to put ideas to work and make positive contributions in the world.
Founded in 1796, Oakwood Friends School is New York State’s oldest co-educational boarding and day school. Our students hail from fourteen different countries and throughout the United States. We are an independent, innovative, college preparatory school for students in grades 6 through 12. The strength of our wonderful school is our small class sizes with dynamic, caring teachers and an inspiring, rich curriculum.
Our middle school program emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning in small student-centered classrooms. Deep exploration of the arts and sciences, humanities, and social interactions are the hallmarks of our offerings. The Upper School program is where our students learn to think critically, analyze and evaluate information carefully, and be open to understanding new ideas. It is no wonder that colleges and universities from all over the world seek to have Oakwood Friends graduates on their campuses.
Finally, Oakwood Friends is a warm and inclusive community. We strive to build long lasting and positive relationships among our families, students, parents, faculty, and staff. We do hope that you explore our website to learn what makes Oakwood Friends School a special place. Once your family makes the discovery, please do not hesitate to contact members of the admissions office to schedule your tour.
Thank you for visiting Oakwood Friends School…always your home.
